En Primeur | Domaine Tortochot
The Tortochot family have been respected vignerons in Gevrey Chambertin since the 19th century, but it is in recent times, under the stewardship of Chantal Tortochot, that key changes have taken place. After 15 years of working in the oil industry, Chantal moved back to the estate to convert it from being a supplier of fine quality fruit to the négociant house Joseph Drouhin, into her own family domaine. In 2008 she made the next step by converting her 12 hectares to become fully organic.

The jewel in Tortochot’s crown; almost 0.5 hectares of Gevrey’s greatest Grand Cru at one of the highest locations within the vineyard. A combination of red and dark cherry, the 100% new oak, wafts across with nuances of sweet spice and mocha. The volume of fruit is soothing, giving a lovely profile of ripeness and plucky sweetness. Its overall body consumes the tannins and means everything lingers in the mouth for a very pleasing amount of time. Great class.
