Goedhuis, November 2015
Whilst a neighbour to Referts, there is considerably less top soil here, so Perrières has a much stronger citrus mineral bite to it. This is a real cracker: lime green in colour, it starts with honey and peaches and a lovely harmonious mouthfeel, and then finishes with its ever-characteristic minerality. An exquisite wine.

Neal Martin, December 2015, Score: 91-93
The 2014 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru les Perrières has a terroir-driven, mineral-rich bouquet, flint and cold limestone. The palate is fresh and saline on the entry, good density here with a little more spiciness than Sauzet's other premier crus. There is an edginess here, tensile and animated with impressive weight on the finish. This is very fine and probably deserves 2-3 years in the cellar. This is one of the domaine's best premier crus in 2014. Drink 2018-2032

Burghound, June 2016, Score: 91-93
(from vines planted in 1986 and located in very compact, dense soil full of rocks and minerals; aged in 33% new wood). Notes of mineral reduction, citrus peel and once again acacia blossom precede finer and more detailed if slightly less voluminous flavors that exhibit much more evident minerality on the super-saline, intense and strikingly persistent if linear finale where a hint of youthful austerity appears. This is clearly built-to-age and will need time to further flesh out as there is little of the easy-going succulence of the Referts. Drink 2021+

Sarah Marsh, December 2015, Score: 18
This is straight and pure. Much lighter than Referts. It is really rather discreet. It is nicely edged. Precise wine with a light, sure, mineral finish. “The soil is very easy to work and light. It really reflects the character of the soil,” adds Benoit. Drink from 2018

Puligny Montrachet
Puligny Montrachet is known as the most delicate of the white wine appellations south of Beaune. Its wines tend to be linear and mineral offering delicate floral and orchard fruit aromatics. Its village and premier cru vineyard area total slightly over 200 hectares but almost half of them are premier cru making them one of the highest proportions of quality vineyards in the Côte de Beaune. Several grand cru vineyards are present, the most notable being Le Montrachet and Bâtard Montrachetwhich it shares with neighbouring Chassagne, but it does have the extraordinary Chevalier Montrachet and the tiny Bienvenues Bâtard Montrachet all to itself. There are a handful of red wines grown, but they tend to be quite light and need to be drunk in their youth.
